Love Letter for January 2023
Some of us have had a rough couple of years. I get tired of people saying that myself, but it doesn’t change the fact that we have been stretched to new thresholds. We have been surprised with just how much we can take without breaking. So take a moment & celebrate. Praise God for being the one who held you together.
In the midst of this time, we have dealt with the pain of unmet expectations, feeling unknown, and unappreciated. We've also struggled with the trauma of recurrent offenses and pain sometimes caused by our own bad decisions. In response to all this we have lost our joy and hope.
Somewhere along the way you decided it was safer to stop dreaming and bet on what was within your reach. When you stopped dreaming you also refused to get your hopes up again. I don’t mean to get so deep on the first message of the year but God wants you to know that when you stopped hoping you also abandoned Him. It takes no faith to only pursue what is within your grasp. Faith is believing that the things that are outside your grasp are available because God can reach them for you.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
God wants to heal your disappointment so that you can move forward to all the things He has for you. You may not have realized this but your bitterness is stifling your faith, in turn making you fruitless. The things that you you have been praying for; the breakthrough, the recompense (just a big word for repayment for wrongs done to you), and the healing you need are the kind of fruit disappointment has been keeping you from. They are on a shelf that you can only reach with faith in God.
Get excited, Beloved! This year is a year of favor and breakthrough blessings for the faithful. Yes! You are the faithful!! Another definition of faithful is being loyal. The key to stepping back into faith is committing to be faithful to Abba (Hebrew Word for Father). See choosing to be faithful to God even when adversity makes Him seem like a gamble. Keep trusting until confidence returns again. Stay with God!! God has predestined an appointed time for your blessing but if you are not walking with Him you will miss what He drops for you.
Instead of just at the beginning and at the end of your day. Do every task with Jesus, by acknowledging the Holy Spirit. “Be led by the Holy Spirit.” Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit and He was always right where He needed to be prepared for whatever came.
This is not the time for memorized prayers. Imagine texting someone who only responds back with canned messages. That relationship gets dry real quick. Prayer should start with reflection of God’s goodness and thanking Him for particular things about Him you have gotten benefit from. Then you talk about what you need like wisdom or confide in Him. End with praying for His will and agreeing with it coming to pass. See the Lord’s prayer for an example prayer. Matt 6:9-13
There will be attacks against your commitment. Although diverse methods, they all are attacking your relationship with God by distracting you from nurturing it. Knowing this, protect it by setting in place security around devotion and divine morality.
Worship is a form of intimacy we share with God including our obedience and adoration. In this special form of worship that is housed in alone time with God we learn from him wisdom that helps us redeem time. We also get what we need for the upcoming season and of course we get to know God for ourselves and share ourselves with God.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for seeing fit to attend to us. You are a good father. Thank you for knowing us intimately and raising us. We ask that you help us to stay. Help us to delight in you so much that staying close to you will be our reward and our greatest desire. Father, please forgive us for the bitterness and disappointment we accepted in our last season. We do not agree with bitterness or disappointment and have come into agreement with the faith of Jesus Christ that pleases you. Soften our hearts and heal what we have become numb to endure without breaking last season. We love you and believe that you are good. Please help us to live in your rest that Jesus died to give us access to.
We Love you,
In Jesus’ name Amen.
Keep an eye out for our next “Hey Beloved” message! I will be reaching out soon about the first virtual meeting. In the meantime, I leave these words from our Lord Jesus Christ with you.
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”
“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
John 15:4 & 9-11 NKJV
